Directions on how to use FeverAll®

Prep

When practical, cleanse area around rectum with mild soap and warm water and rinse thoroughly. Gently dry by patting or blotting with toilet tissue or a soft cloth before using FeverAll®.

Remove wrapper before inserting suppository as follows: hold suppository upright and carefully separate wrapper at pointed end to open.

Carefully peel wrapper down both sides evenly, exposing suppository.

Avoid excess handling, as suppository is designed to melt at body temperature. Suppositories should not need to be refrigerated if stored below 80º F (27º C).

How long does it take for the suppository to absorb/melt?

FeverAll® suppositories are designed to start melting once they have been administered so that the active ingredient, acetaminophen, becomes available very quickly. Acetaminophen enters the bloodstream rapidly and reaches maximum concentration about an hour after administering. Pharmacokinetics studies indicate that FeverAll® reaches Tmax in 1.17 hours and has a half-life of 2.1 hours following administration of the suppository. If a child defecates right after inserting the suppository, can another be administered?

It will be important for you to consult with the patient/caregiver to best evaluate the proper administration of the suppository. As there are recommendations for maximum doses, please read the "Dosage & Labeling" information page.
